Commemorating Amar Ekushe February and International Mother Language Day in Vancouver

On February 21, 2024, the Bengali community in Vancouver came together to honor Amar Ekushe February, also known as International Mother Language Day, with a heartfelt and poignant “Prabhat Pheri” (dawn procession).

The day began with the traditional “Prabhat Pheri,” a solemn and symbolic procession that took place at dawn. Participants, dressed in traditional attire, walked together to pay homage to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the recognition of the Bengali language. The procession was a moving tribute, filled with songs and recitations that highlighted the importance of preserving linguistic and cultural heritage.
